Tecnorobo
So smoked my first bowl of tangiers tonight. Let the stuff acclimate for 3 1/2 hours.May let it acclimate a little bit more later.Throughout the session, I had a bit of throat tickle but it was not too uncomfortable. Smoked red tea- Didn't get a ton of flavor but it was there. The nammor smoked quite nicely.I used 40 mm golden coals in 1/4s and had them at each corner, doing my best to keep my eye on them and manage them (move em around here and there).Had straight water, and ice in the base. Also had a heba diffuser on for this session. Used Tangiers large phunnel, and a common hole pattern. Foil shiny side down. The buzz is/was uncomfortable. we smoked for 50 minutes and we had to stop. I don't like this feeling. The buzz was quite pleasant at first (as i never buzz with washed shisha any more). My buddy tossed his cookies (threw up). I feel like I may have some bowel problems but I hope I don't get to the upchuck process. My other buddy is feeling it too.Agh... I hope this doesn't happen every time. I dunno if i can smoke the stuff if it does Edited February 19, 2008 by Tecnorobo
Bulldog_916
It will, that's the appeal of Tangiers, flavor + buzz. Put warm water in the base, I've found that it increases flavor.

Snoopy1966
This is a great way to set up Tangiershttp://www.hookahforum.com/index.php?showtopic=17067Red Tea is a smoother flavor and use warm water as Bulldog said. I had to acclimate my Red Tea for at least 8 hours before it had a nice tea smell to it. It is one of my favs, I like to smoke that at night whilst drinking tea.The buzz, well it may effect some more then others, I have had no problems with it. MechAnt
Use warm waterAcclimate it morePack moreLots of fairly big holesThat should solve most if not all your problems. Once you hit the sweet spot with Tangiers, it's freaking amazing.
Scoop
for the first week dont smoke straight tangiers.mix it with something washed. after that youll get used to it.red tea is super strong flavor in my opinion, i cant handle it alone (in terms of dont like it that much) but mixed with fruity flavors its real nice. Dunno what the problem is. I'm starting to wonder if I may have gotten CO poisoning. I dunno if that's it or not, as the other two guys smoking were virtually fine. It was just my friend and I that got "Sick". Apparently the other fellow who got sick threw up again later in the evening. I haven't been able to get ahold of him today, so I'm assuming he's in class or skipped altogether and hasn't woken up yet haha.I luckily did not toss my cookies. It's not happened once in my hookah career... but last night was dang close. Closer than I liked.
hinrg
I get this way when I smoke tangiers too. It's the only stuff that 30 minutes into the session I have to force myself to stop, go lay down and a take a nap. I love the flavor, but I might have to switch to Starbuzz until the washed line comes out.

Scoop
dont empty it.tangiers has low moisture content, so you can start smoking the same bowl the next day or two. ive done it plenty of times, the small phunnel lasts for at least 4 hours so i use the same bowl for two sessions.also tangiers is much higher in nicotine then washed lines. once you get used to it you dont get the whole tired feeling. ive been there lol, now i love it and i basically wont smoke anything besides it. after tangiers layalina, af, starbuzz...all of them lose their appeal for me. FlyingCostello
I just bought a sampler pack of this as well, and I cant get it to smoke right. We taste alot of tobacco, but not much flavor. And the smoke seems kinda "warm" compared to other brands that we smoke (mainly starbuzz) even though the base has a bunch of ice in it.So by acclimate, you mean just leave it out to breathe? Ive been putting it in glad ware containers, should I leave it in its bags to keep more moisture?

Snoopy1966
I put mine in a glad container too. You do not lose much juice at all when you put in in the container. That is what I like about their packaging. Yes acclimate means to let the tobacco get comfortable with the humidity in your home. Let it sit out for a while and sir it up every 45 min. or so. Ditch the ice. Cool water is good warm water even better.

I noticed that the pieces in the pics in that thread seem a little smaller than the pieces in my shisha, but thats the only difference i see. FlyingCostello
I let the tobacco sit out for about 8 hours, and I think i finally got it working good, its as good as everyone says it is. Keep at it, you'll get it eventually.Do you have to let the tobacco sit out like that every time you smoke, or just after opening the package for the first time? Tonights session was kashmir apple. Really thick clouds- and it had flavor, although i'm not sure if it tasted like it's supposed to. It's a very floral flavor, almost herbal. It wasn't bad, just wasn't what i expected. Very little throat tingle this session. I used the warm water and i think it helped. I took it easy though. I smoked a bowl and half of fantasia before hand too so I'm surprised I feel as well as I do. Definitely not as buzzed/sick as I was last night.my friends are all ok as far as I know too. They all liked it. I think tangiers will make it's rotation around here.
Codename067
I won't be surprised if this bowl starts burning 20 minutes in...It's not enough that the holes are big, but they are way too close to each other. Anyone else do their holes like that? I probably do half of that, and half the size. From the size of the holes, I would say he used the needle at the end of the tongs. I use a tooth pick every single time. Edited February 20, 2008 by Codename067
